This is a national collaborative project that connects veterans with students. It is intended as a community service project to help students and teachers express their thanks and appreciation for the sacrifices that veterans have made on our behalf. We live in a country that cherishes the freedoms guaranteed by the US Constitution. We should never take those freedoms for granted. As such, it is our obligation as adults to teach these truths to the next generation.

Educator Road Rally for Veterans
The video on this page is the result of an Educator Road Rally for Veterans. The Road Rally happened about a week before Veterans Day. Educators worked in pairs and visited local cemeteries. There, they searched the grave sites of our fallen heroes to examine the round, circular Military Marker/flag holders. Each war has its own special design, and major wars sometimes have more than one design. We found a Military Marker for every war from the Civil War until now, with one exception: Ozaukee County has had only one fallen hero since the start of the Global War on Terror. He is Stephen W. Castner from Cedarburg.
Here is a one-page handout which is easily adaptable by any teachers who would like to honor our heroes in such a way as this:
